Learn Research Skills for Conducting Interviews


Lean Research Skills for Conducting Interviews is an online course offered by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. The course is intended for journalists of all experience levels who want to improve their research skills to better prepare for interviews. There are no educational prerequisites or work experience requirements for admission to the course. No fee is assessed for the class, but students requiring a certificate of completion will need to pay $49.

Presented through a series of English videos, Lean Research Skills for Conducting Interviews is broken into five two-lesson modules. Students should complete one module per week over the five-week class. For most people, 2 to 3 hours of study time will be required weekly for success. The lessons include: Introduction to Lean Research, The Lean Research Principles in Practice, Introduction to Interviewing Skills: The Basics, Lean Research Interviewing Skills, Connecting Across Differences, Handling Challenges in Interviewing and Recognizing a Good Interview. Students will be required to implement their own interview and present it to their peers for review.
